I’ve spent a lot of time working on FlesherNET, and most of that time has gone into getting the website itself working the way I want.

Between designing the theme, figuring out the layout, adding features, and making adjustments along the way, there’s been plenty to keep me busy. I’ve finally reached a point where I can start putting more attention into the actual content.

And that’s where I’ve run into an interesting question: What exactly do I want to put here?

Getting the Website Built Was the Easy Part. Sort Of.

I wouldn’t necessarily call building the website easy, considering how much time I’ve spent working on it. But at least I had a fairly clear idea of what I was trying to accomplish on the technical side.

I wanted a custom design, navigation that made sense, and features that worked the way I envisioned. The logo is in place, the menus are working, and I’ve added things like the featured image slider, sidebar widgets, and links to my other accounts.

There’s still plenty I can improve, but the foundation is coming together.

The funny thing is that while I’ve been busy working on all of that, the ideas for what FlesherNET should actually contain have continued changing.

I had a general direction in mind when I started. I wanted somewhere to share projects, technical information, things I’ve worked on, and whatever else I thought might be interesting or useful.

But the more I worked on the site, the more possibilities I started considering.

Somewhere along the way, I got so focused on building everything that I wasn’t spending much time figuring out what I was going to do with all of it.

Now Comes the Content

I’ve got ideas for articles, projects, how-to guides, downloads, and possibly some community features down the road.

What I’m less certain about is how much of that should appear on the homepage and what else might be worth including.

I don’t want to add a bunch of stuff just to fill empty space. I’d rather have features and content that people actually find useful or enjoy looking through.

And while I certainly have my own interests, I also know that what I think would be interesting might not be what someone else would like to see.

That’s part of why I’m putting the question out there.

What Would You Like to See?

If you’ve got ideas for something that would fit on FlesherNET, I’d like to hear them.

Maybe it’s a featured project section, useful tools and downloads, a collection of how-to guides, or something I haven’t thought of yet.

I’m particularly interested in ideas for the homepage. I’ve spent plenty of time getting it to look and function the way I want, but I’d like to make sure there’s something worthwhile there when people visit.

Feel free to send me an email, reach out on Facebook, or leave a comment.

I’ve got a few directions I want to explore, but I’m open to suggestions. After spending this much time building the website, I’d like to make good use of it.
